President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of Kemi Nandap’s tenure as Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) until December 31, 2026. Nandap, who joined the NIS on October 9, 1989, was appointed as Comptroller-General on March 1, 2024, with her original term set to end on August 31, 2025.
In a statement on Monday, President Tinubu, through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, praised Nandap’s leadership, highlighting significant improvements in border management, immigration modernization, and national security during her tenure.
“Under her leadership, the NIS has made notable progress in fulfilling its core mandate, particularly in enhancing border management, modernizing immigration processes, and strengthening national security,” the statement read.
The president commended Nandap for her exemplary leadership and encouraged her to continue prioritizing the NIS’s strategic goals, which align with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the NIS in safeguarding Nigeria’s borders and promoting safe, legal migration.
