Former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has confirmed her visit to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja to clarify financial expenditures during her tenure.

On Thursday, EFCC investigators questioned and detained Kennedy-Ohanenye over allegations of a N138 million fraud.

In a series of posts on her official X handle on Friday, the former minister shared details of her visit to the EFCC, revealing that she arrived at 2:15 pm and left at 6:50 pm. She stated that she provided “comprehensive clarifications” regarding her actions while in office and praised the EFCC for its professionalism.

Kennedy-Ohanenye also expressed her full cooperation with the EFCC in any further inquiries related to the case. “I commend the EFCC for their professionalism and hospitality, and I appreciate the opportunity to address the matters that have recently been circulating in the media,” she stated.

The former minister emphasized her prudent management of public funds during her tenure, noting that she even supplemented government resources with personal funds to support initiatives under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “During my tenure, my team and I executed our duties diligently, utilizing available resources effectively, and even supplementing with personal funds, demonstrating our commitment to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigerian women and children,” she added.
