Impeached South Korean president Yoon released from detention

South Korea’s impeached President, Yoon Suk Yeol, was released from detention on Saturday, AFP reporters witnessed, as he walked out of the detention center with a smile and bowed deeply before a crowd of waiting supporters.

Supporters cheered as the suspended president made his way past them, before entering a convoy of vehicles.

In a statement released through his lawyers, Yoon expressed his gratitude, saying, “I bow my head in gratitude to the people of this nation.”
