Trailer crash causes traffic jam on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Command, has urged motorists and the public to exercise caution following a road traffic accident on the Kara Bridge, Berger, along the Ibadan-bound section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The incident, which occurred early Wednesday, involved a trailer carrying containers that toppled, blocking lanes and causing significant traffic congestion.

In a statement signed by the FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Kehinde Hamzat, the agency advised motorists to stay calm and avoid actions that could worsen the situation.

The FRSC also noted that some impatient drivers exacerbated the traffic by driving against the flow of traffic on the Lagos-bound side, further disrupting movement in both directions.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety of all road users,” the statement read. “We urge the public to cooperate with traffic officials on the ground and refrain from actions that could worsen the situation.”

The FRSC is working alongside the police, LASTMA, and other traffic management agencies to clear the fallen trailer and restore normal traffic flow. Hamzat confirmed that the FRSC is deploying professionals and the necessary recovery equipment to remove the trailer and ease the congestion.

Motorists are encouraged to explore alternative routes to avoid delays, postpone non-essential trips where possible, and exercise patience and caution to ensure safety during this period.
