INEC declares Aiyedatiwa winner of Ondo governorship election

Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa, has officially been declared the winner of the state’s governorship election held on Saturday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returned Ayedatiwa as elected after he emerged victorious in all 18 local government areas of the state. The final result was announced on Sunday at the State Collation Centre in Akure, with Ayedatiwa securing a decisive win in the remaining Ese Odo Local Government Area, which had been the last to report.

Ayedatiwa, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), garnered a total of 366,781 votes, while his main rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), trailed with 117,845 votes.

The State Returning Officer, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, declared, “That Ayedatiwa Lucky Orimisan of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby returned elected.”
