The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a 10-year-old boy, identified as Chinecherem Onuwasoanya, after he was found wandering in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area, having reportedly lost his way home.

The boy, who identified himself as a native of Ebenebe community in Anambra State, was rescued by operatives of the Okpoko Police Division on Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2026.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement, explaining that the child had gone out to play but was unable to find his way back home or locate his family members.

According to the police, a concerned resident who found the boy wandering in the area took him to the Okpoko Police Division for assistance.

The command said efforts were underway to locate the boy’s parents or guardians and reunite him with his family.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the Good Samaritan for bringing the child to the police station and urged residents to remain vigilant and support efforts to protect children and other vulnerable persons.

He also advised parents and guardians to provide adequate supervision for their children and take necessary precautions to ensure they can be identified and reunited with their families if they become separated.

The police appealed to members of the public with information that could help locate Chinecherem’s parents or guardians to contact the Okpoko Police Division or the Anambra State Police Command.
