Galatasaray have received a boost ahead of Friday’s Trendyol Süper Lig clash with Kasımpaşa after striker Victor Osimhen returned to partial team training on Wednesday.

The Nigeria international, who has been sidelined with a groin injury, joined his teammates for part of the training session at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities under head coach Okan Buruk.

According to a post on Galatasaray’s X account, Osimhen took part in the opening stages of the session before continuing with an individual programme designed by the club’s medical staff as he works towards full fitness.

The session began with a dynamic warm-up before the players moved into 8v2 passing drills in three groups. They then worked on possession exercises before rounding off the session with a small-sided game.

Midfielder Mario Lemina and goalkeeper Günay Güvenç took part in the entire session, while defenders Wilfried Singo and Roland Sallai continued their rehabilitation programmes separately as they recover from their respective injuries.

Osimhen’s partial return provides an encouraging sign for Galatasaray, although the club is expected to manage his workload carefully as he rebuilds his fitness.

The 27-year-old is being assessed with Friday’s home fixture against Kasımpaşa at Rams Park in mind, although a decision on his availability will depend on his recovery and fitness levels.

Galatasaray will then face another major test when they host Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League four days later.

The Turkish champions are scheduled to continue preparations for the Kasımpaşa encounter with another training session on Wednesday at 5pm.
