Tinubu returns to Abuja after six-day stay in Lagos

President Bola Tinubu will depart Lagos for Abuja on Monday evening, ending his six-day stay in the state following his annual vacation in Europe.

The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday titled, ‘President Tinubu returns to Abuja.’

According to the statement, Tinubu arrived in Lagos on Tuesday, September 29, after spending his annual vacation in London and Paris.

During his stay in Lagos, the President delivered his Independence Day address on October 1 to mark Nigeria’s 66th anniversary. In the broadcast, he declared the end of the “age of reform” and the beginning of an “age of prosperity.”

Later that day, Tinubu attended the national premiere of MKO, a documentary chronicling the life, political struggle and legacy of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, as well as the June 12 pro-democracy struggle. The screening was held at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts.

On Sunday, the President visited the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, at his Iga Iduganran Palace on Lagos Island.

Tinubu had left Nigeria earlier in September for his annual vacation in the United Kingdom and France.

During his stay in Paris, he was reported to have held a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace on September 17.

The President did not attend the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, instead delegating Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead Nigeria’s delegation.
