Manchester City have vowed to appeal the Premier League’s verdict finding the club guilty of breaching financial regulations between 2009 and 2018.
The club said it was “disappointed and surprised” by the decision, disputing the findings of the independent commission that heard the case.
“Manchester City FC will now pursue the appeal avenues open to it, on the basis that the opinion contains clear material errors, of law, principle and fact, and is unsafe,” the club said in a statement.
City’s appeal will now determine the next stage of the long-running case, with no sanction yet imposed by the Premier League.
