Nigerian Afrobeats stars Davido, Rema and Omah Lay will headline the seventh edition of Afro Nation Portugal alongside Congolese music star Fally Ipupa, as organisers unveiled the festival’s first wave of performers for 2027.
The four artistes were announced on Wednesday as major acts for the festival, which is scheduled to take place from June 9 to 11, 2027, at Praia da Rocha beach in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal.
The first wave also features a strong Nigerian presence, with Omah Lay and Victony among the artistes billed to perform on the main stage.
Other announced performers include Jamaican singers Shenseea and Valiant, Tanzanian star Rayvanny, as well as Odeal, Bamby and Miimii KDS.
Congolese-French singer GIMS has also been announced as a special guest.
The festival’s main Lit Stage will feature Davido, Rema and Fally Ipupa as headliners, alongside GIMS, Omah Lay, Victony, Shenseea, Valiant, Rayvanny, Odeal, Bamby, Miimii KDS and South Gidi Experience.
The Piano People Stage, dedicated to amapiano, will feature Kabza De Small, TxC, Dlala Thukzin, 031Choppa, 2woBunnies, Benzo, Thatohatsi, Uncool MC, W4DE, Young Stunna and Zee Nxumalo.
The Afrotronic Stage will host Caiiro, Djeff, Jamiie, Aniko and JNR SA.
Organisers are expected to announce more artistes and additional festival details in the coming months.
Davido, Rema and Fally Ipupa are all returning performers at Afro Nation Portugal, with organisers describing the trio as “three giants of African music.”
The 2027 festival will open with a party on June 8, followed by the three-day main event from June 9 to 11. A closing party is scheduled for June 12.
Strong Nigerian presence
Nigeria has maintained a prominent presence at Afro Nation Portugal since the festival was launched in Portimão in 2019.
Burna Boy was among the major acts at the inaugural edition and has returned for several subsequent festivals, including 2022, 2023, 2025 and 2026.
Davido has also featured prominently, appearing at the 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2025 editions before returning as a headliner for 2027.
Wizkid has likewise appeared on major festival line-ups, performing in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2026.
Other Nigerian headliners have included Asake, who topped the bill in 2024 and 2026, while Rema headlined the 2024 edition.
Tems was also a headline act at the 2025 festival.
Several other Nigerian artistes have performed at the festival in supporting and other roles, including Omah Lay, Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr, Fireboy DML, Adekunle Gold, Wande Coal, Young Jonn, Darkoo, Victony, Qing Madi, Shallipopi and P-Square.
The latest announcement extends Nigeria’s longstanding presence at the festival, with Davido, Rema and Fally Ipupa leading the 2027 bill, while Omah Lay and Victony are among the other Nigerian acts announced.
About Afro Nation Portugal
Afro Nation Portugal was launched in Portimão in 2019 and has grown into an international festival centred on Afrobeats, amapiano and African music and culture.
The 2027 edition is scheduled for June, earlier than recent editions, which have generally taken place in July.
The festival is an 18+ event, with attendees required to present valid identification.
