The Zamfara State Government has appointed Alhaji Shehu Baraya as the new Head of the State Civil Service.
The appointment, approved by Governor Dauda Lawal, takes immediate effect, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Nakwada.
The statement was signed by the Senior Special Assistant (Media), Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Suleman Ahmad Tudu.
Baraya succeeds Alhaji Yakubu Haidara, who recently retired from the state civil service after years of service.
According to the statement, Baraya is a seasoned career civil servant with extensive institutional experience and a deep understanding of public administration. He has served as Permanent Secretary in several ministries and was, until his appointment, the Permanent Secretary of the Zamfara State Civil Service Commission.
Lawal commended Haidara for his service and contributions to the development of the state civil service, and wished him a fulfilling post-service life.
The governor also tasked Baraya with using his experience to deepen professionalism, strengthen discipline, improve productivity and enhance efficiency across the civil service, in line with the administration’s Rescue Agenda.
