President Bola Tinubu has renewed the appointments of Abdulhamid Dembos as Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Ali Mohammed Ali as Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) for another three years.
Bayo Onanuga, the President’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to Onanuga, the renewed tenure of both chief executives will commence on October 20, 2026, following the expiration of their initial three-year appointments.
Tinubu first appointed Dembos and Ali to lead the NTA and NAN, respectively, on October 20, 2023.
Dembos, an indigene of Yola, Adamawa State, previously served as National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU).
He also served as Executive Director of Marketing at the NTA before retiring from the organisation in 2017.
Dembos began his career with the NTA as an announcer at its Kaduna station after completing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in 1989. He subsequently rose through the ranks, serving as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano at different times.
He retired in 2017 as Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre.
Ali, a veteran journalist and media manager with more than three decades of experience, holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Bayero University, Kano; a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication from Bayero University.
Onanuga said President Tinubu had charged both executives to justify the confidence placed in them by maintaining their commitment to the mandates of their respective organisations and supporting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
