Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has formally announced Deputy Governor Murtala Garo as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.

Yusuf made the announcement during a strategic meeting with federal political appointees of President Bola Tinubu at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

In a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf said the decision was based on Garo’s performance, loyalty and commitment since assuming office.

The governor said he remained satisfied with his choice of deputy, expressing confidence in Garo’s ability to continue contributing to the administration’s goals.

“I have no regrets for choosing Garo as my Deputy in the last few months, and he has proven to be the right choice so far. I want to confirm to you that I have every confidence in him,” Yusuf said.

Yusuf commended Garo for his role in advancing the administration’s development agenda, describing him as a dependable partner who has contributed significantly to the implementation of government policies and programmes across the state.

“He has demonstrated competence, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility in the discharge of his duties,” the governor added.

Reaffirming his confidence in the deputy governor, Yusuf described Garo as a reliable ally whose support has strengthened the administration’s efforts to deliver on its promises to the people of Kano.

The governor also called on party leaders, political appointees and supporters to remain united and focused as the state prepares for the 2027 general elections.

“We must remain focused and committed as we consolidate on our achievements and move forward together,” he said.
