The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced its petrol gantry price by ₦25 per litre, lowering the cost from ₦1,275 to ₦1,250 per litre.
A senior official of the Dangote Group, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment publicly on the matter, confirmed the development to our correspondent on Saturday.
According to the official, the price adjustment was driven by the recent decline in crude oil prices on the international market.
“We have reduced the petrol price to ₦1,250 per litre at our gantry. This is largely due to the current drop in global crude oil prices, although the market remains volatile and caution is still necessary,” the official said.
The latest reduction comes as depot prices continue to adjust to evolving market conditions.
Data from petroleumprice.ng showed that Aiteo and NIPCO were selling petrol at ₦1,272 per litre, while Integrated Energy, Ascon Oil, and African Terminal were trading at about ₦1,274 per litre — slightly below Dangote Refinery’s previous gantry price of ₦1,275 per litre.
Industry stakeholders expect the price cut to have a ripple effect across the downstream petroleum sector, particularly among marketers who source products from the refinery.
Petrol prices in Nigeria have climbed significantly in recent months amid rising crude oil prices, with pump prices increasing from around ₦830 per litre to as much as ₦1,300 per litre in several parts of the country.
Diesel and aviation fuel prices also recorded substantial increases during the period, heightening concerns among businesses, manufacturers, and transport operators over rising operating costs.
