Veteran Nollywood actor and broadcaster Patrick Doyle has announced the death of his newborn daughter, just hours after celebrating her birth with his wife, Funmilayo Doyle.
In a Facebook post on Sunday evening, Doyle revealed that the baby, named Omayinuwa Mayen Harriet Doyle, passed away less than a day after her birth.
“Omayinuwa visited us briefly at about 10:40 a.m. on Friday, April 10, and returned to heaven on Saturday, April 11, at about 4:15 p.m. Her stay was short, but it brought great joy. We would have wished for a longer time, but heaven thought otherwise,” he wrote.
He added: “This much we know, God still rules in the affairs of men. Our faith in His goodness remains resolute. Sibe’ sibe’ Oluwa n’be’. It is well with our soul.”
Earlier, Doyle had announced the birth of the child, expressing gratitude to God for what he described as “the precious addition” to his family.
Following the announcement of her passing, fans and well-wishers have taken to social media to express condolences and offer prayers to the family.
Doyle was previously married to Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle. The couple, who married in 2004 and share children together, ended their union in a divorce confirmed by Ireti Doyle in a 2023 interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo on WithChude.
