The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar III, on Sunday paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, State House, Abuja.
The visit was confirmed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who shared official photographs of the meeting on X, stating: “Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar III visited President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, on Sunday, March 15.”
President Tinubu and the Sultan are Nigeria’s highest political and spiritual authorities, respectively. As the traditional and religious leader of Muslims nationwide, the Sultan plays a key role in promoting unity and guiding the country’s Muslim community.
Details of the discussions during the meeting were not disclosed at the time of filing. However, such high-level courtesy visits typically serve to strengthen national unity, foster peace, and provide a forum to address issues of governance and security.
