Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 2–1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday, denting their hopes of securing direct qualification for the Champions League last 16.

Luis Suárez struck twice for Sporting in the second half, sealing the win with a 90th-minute header, after substitute Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had pulled PSG level in the 79th minute.

The French champions remain fifth in the standings on 13 points and will now face Newcastle United next Wednesday in their final group-stage fixture, with qualification still hanging in the balance.
