Napoli claimed the Italian Super Cup on Monday as David Neres scored twice to guide the reigning Serie A champions to a 2-0 win over Bologna in the final in Jeddah.

Brazilian winger Neres opened the scoring with a stunning long-range strike before halftime, giving Napoli the lead against last season’s Coppa Italia winners. He doubled the advantage in the second half, intercepting a pass from Bologna goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia as the keeper attempted to play out from the back.

Neres finished the tournament with three goals, having also scored in Napoli’s 2-0 semi-final victory over AC Milan last week.

Traditionally contested by the Serie A and Coppa Italia champions, the Italian Super Cup has, since 2023, expanded to include the league and cup runners-up, making it a four-team tournament. The competition is contracted to be held in Saudi Arabia until 2029.
