For the second weekend running, Chelsea were undone by a red card as they fell to a 3–1 defeat against Brighton on Saturday.

The Blues led at the break thanks to Enzo Fernández’s well-taken header, capping a strong first-half performance. But the momentum shifted early in the second half when Trevoh Chalobah was sent off in the 53rd minute following a VAR review for a last-man foul on Diego Gomez, who was through on goal.

Brighton capitalised on the numerical advantage as Danny Welbeck nodded in the equaliser. Maxim De Cuyper then put the hosts ahead before Welbeck struck again in stoppage time to seal the win.

Liverpool’s perfect start ends as Palace extend unbeaten run

Liverpool’s flawless start to the Premier League season came to an end with a 2–1 loss at Crystal Palace, a result that saw the hosts stretch their unbeaten run to 18 matches in all competitions and emerge as the league’s only undefeated side.

Ismaila Sarr gave Palace the lead in the first half after Liverpool failed to deal with a corner. The Reds looked to have salvaged a point when Federico Chiesa struck an 87th-minute equaliser, sweeping home a loose ball inside the box.

But Eddie Nketiah had the final say, calmly slotting home the winner deep into stoppage time to hand Palace a dramatic victory.

The result lifts Palace to second place, just three points behind Liverpool at the top of the table. Arsenal can reclaim second spot and cut the gap to two points when they visit Newcastle on Sunday.

Elsewhere, there was late drama at Elland Road as Bournemouth salvaged a 2–2 draw against Leeds United, thanks to a stoppage-time strike from Eli Kroupi.
