Rapper Cardi B has confirmed she is expecting a child with her boyfriend, NFL wide receiver Stefon Diggs, following weeks of speculation.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with CBS on Wednesday, the Grammy-winning artist shared her excitement: “I’m excited. I’m happy.”
Cardi B—born Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar—and New England Patriots player Diggs went public with their relationship earlier this year, after months of speculation. The news of her pregnancy comes just months after her split from husband and fellow rapper Offset, with whom she shares three children.
The 32-year-old star is currently in the middle of promoting her upcoming album, “Am I the Drama,” set to release on Friday.
“I feel like I’m in a good space. I feel very strong. I feel very powerful that I’m doing all this work,” Cardi B said, adding, “But I’m doing all this work while I’m creating a baby. Me and my man, we’re very supportive of each other.”
This marks Cardi B’s fourth child. She shares her seven-year-old daughter Kulture, four-year-old son Wave, and one-year-old daughter Blossom with Offset. Blossom was born after the couple had already separated. Stefon Diggs, 31, also has an eight-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
The announcement adds another headline to a busy month for Cardi B. Earlier in September, she was cleared of assault in a $24 million civil trial, where she was accused of slashing a woman’s face with her fingernails, a case that ended in her favor.
“Two weeks ago, I was literally having a panic attack. I was crying and crying and crying, just because I was getting really nervous with the whole album rollout,” she admitted during the CBS interview.
Despite the legal battles and media attention, the rapper appears focused on embracing this new chapter, both personally and professionally.
