The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced the appointment of Andy Odeh as Chief Corporate Communications Officer and Morenike Adewunmi as Chief Relations Officer.

Odeh’s appointment comes two months after the resignation of former NNPC spokesperson, Femi Soneye.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the national oil company described both appointees as seasoned professionals with extensive experience in the oil and gas sector.

According to NNPC, Andy Odeh brings over 30 years of experience in communications and business administration across the oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting industries.

He previously spent 26 years at Nigeria LNG (NLNG), where he held multiple senior roles spanning community relations, business logistics, IT, corporate communications, public affairs, government relations, and regulatory compliance. He most recently served as General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development.

“He is recognised for leading major public relations and advertising campaigns for top brands. At NLNG, he managed the company’s rebranding and implemented one of Nigeria’s most successful micro-credit schemes for host communities,” the statement said.

Odeh also played a key role in launching the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting, a platform that promotes excellence in energy journalism in Nigeria.

He is an alumnus of the University of Jos, University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

Morenike Adewunmi, appointed as Chief Relations Officer, is a legal professional with over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Her core expertise lies in stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and regulatory compliance.

She spent a significant portion of her career at the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCiN), where she was known for her ability to navigate complex regulatory and external landscapes.

“She is highly regarded for ensuring regulatory compliance and protecting the company’s ‘license to operate,’” NNPC noted.
