Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the new Emir and Sarkin Katsina of Gusau Emirate.
Alhaji Abdulkadir becomes the 16th Emir of Gusau, succeeding his late father, His Royal Highness Ibrahim Bello, who passed away on July 25, 2025, after a decade of distinguished service to the Emirate.
The appointment was confirmed in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, who noted that it followed the recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers, in line with traditional customs and relevant legal provisions.
Until his appointment, the new Emir held the respected title of Bunun Gusau and is the eldest son of the late monarch.
Governor Lawal congratulated the new Emir and urged him to uphold the legacy of his forefathers, particularly as a direct descendant of Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa, a revered figure in the Emirate’s history.
He also called on the Emir to serve as a symbol of unity, peace, and progress, promoting harmony and development across the Gusau Emirate and beyond.
