Vice President Kashim Shettima departed Abuja on Sunday for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he will represent Nigeria at the Second United Nations Food Systems Summit, taking place from July 27 to 29.
Announcing his participation via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Shettima stated that he would be joining other world leaders for high-level discussions aimed at transforming global food systems and strengthening international cooperation on food security.
The summit will review progress made since the inaugural edition in 2021 and focus on accelerating global commitments toward building resilient, inclusive, and climate-smart food systems.
Vice President Shettima is expected to take part in key sessions addressing the advancement of the coffee value chain, the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, and the adoption of innovative solutions for food production and distribution.
His itinerary also includes participation in ministerial roundtables, field visits, and networking events designed to showcase real-world examples of food systems transformation from across the globe.
Additional engagements will cover strategic areas such as public finance, trade, and responsible investment—critical pillars for achieving long-term food system reforms across Africa.
