Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford in a deal worth an initial £65 million, as manager Ruben Amorim accelerates his overhaul of the club’s underperforming attack.

Mbeumo, 25, impressed last season with 20 goals in 38 Premier League appearances, drawing interest from several clubs, including Tottenham—now managed by former Brentford boss Thomas Frank. United’s improved third bid secured the winger after two previous offers were rejected, with a further £6 million agreed in potential add-ons.

The forward is expected to undergo a medical ahead of United’s pre-season tour of the United States, which begins Tuesday. He will become Amorim’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Wolves striker Matheus Cunha and 18-year-old Paraguayan defender Diego Leon.

United’s attacking revamp follows a dismal season in which the club finished 15th in the league—their worst performance since 1973–74—and lost 1–0 to Tottenham in the Europa League final. Amorim is reportedly ready to part ways with Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho, while Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee underwhelmed as lead strikers last term.

Despite missing out on Champions League qualification—and the £70 million windfall it brings—United have already spent more than £120 million this summer.

Mbeumo brings versatility, pace, and a sharp eye for goal. Capable of playing on either wing or centrally, he scored 70 goals and registered 51 assists in 242 appearances for Brentford, helping them win promotion to the Premier League in 2021 and finish 10th last season.
