NELFUND warns students against fake online loan portal

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a warning to students and the general public to beware of a fraudulent website and misleading messages currently circulating online.

In a statement released in Abuja on Monday, the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, described the information being spread as false and deceptive.

“The attention of NELFUND has been drawn to a fraudulent message currently circulating online, falsely claiming that President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reopening of the NELFUND Student Loan application portal,” the statement read.

Oluwatuyi noted that the fake message includes a link to a fraudulent website: https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/

“We wish to categorically state that this website is FAKE, and the claims in the message are entirely false and misleading,” she emphasized.

The Fund reiterated that the only official portal for student loan applications is: https://nelf.gov.ng

Mrs. Oluwatuyi urged students, parents, and guardians to avoid clicking on unverified links or sharing personal and financial information on suspicious websites.

She reassured the public of NELFUND’s commitment to transparency, safety, and fairness in the loan application process and emphasized that all official updates will be communicated through verified platforms.

Students and members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious messages or websites by emailing: info@nelf.gov.ng
