The Taraba State Government has extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Niger State following the recent devastating flood in Mokwa Local Government Area.
A delegation led by Senator Manu Haruna, who represents Taraba Central, visited the Niger State Government House in Minna on Tuesday to express solidarity with Governor Umaru Bago and the flood-affected communities. The tragedy has been described as both a monumental loss and a national disaster.
Speaking during the visit, Senator Haruna conveyed the sympathies of the Taraba State Government, emphasizing that Taraba shares in the grief of Niger State—especially those directly impacted by the flood.
“As a sister state, we are deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident in Mokwa. It is not just a loss to Niger State, but to the entire nation,” Senator Haruna stated.
He announced a donation of ₦50 million on behalf of the Taraba State Government to support victims of the disaster.
In his response, Governor Bago expressed deep appreciation to the government and people of Taraba State for their compassion and generous support during what he described as a difficult period for the state.
Governor Bago noted that the gesture reflects the unity and solidarity among Nigerian states, especially in times of crisis.
