Students take WAEC exam at night in Taraba

Students writing WAEC exam at night in Taraba State.
Some students in Taraba State were made to sit for their West African Examinations Council (WAEC) English Language exam late Wednesday night, sparking outrage from parents and guardians.

The exam, originally scheduled for 8:00 a.m., was delayed for unexplained reasons. As of the time of filing this report, WAEC had not issued any official statement addressing the unusual shift in schedule.

Parents who visited the exam centres to check on their wards were shocked to learn that the examination was only being conducted at night. Describing the situation as unacceptable, they called for a public apology from WAEC.

According to the parents, the exam should have been formally postponed rather than subjecting students to unnecessary stress, especially with another paper scheduled for the following day.

“This has never happened in Taraba State,” one concerned parent remarked. “The children were kept in uncertainty all day, and then asked to write an exam late at night without rest or proper communication.”

They urged the Federal Government to investigate the incident, sanction those responsible, and ensure such disruptions do not occur in the future.
