Amusan breaks record, wins 100m hurdles at Rabat Diamond League

Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan stormed to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Rabat Diamond League on Sunday, smashing the meet record with a blazing time of 12.45 seconds.

Amusan’s performance surpassed the previous record of 12.51 seconds, set by American Brianna McNeal in 2018, marking a remarkable achievement for the 2022 World Champion and world record holder.

The race, held just before the main broadcast, saw Amusan dominate the field from the start, pulling decisively ahead of her rivals. Her 12.45-second finish also marks her season’s best (SB).

Hot on her heels was the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser, who posted a season’s best of 12.67 seconds to claim second place. Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska secured third with a season’s best of 12.69 seconds.

Other notable performances included Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji (12.71s SB), Italy’s Giada Carmassi (12.81s PB), Elena Carraro (12.89s), USA’s Destiny Huven (12.93s), France’s Sacha Alessandrini (12.96s SB), and Austria’s Karin Strametz (13.08s SB). The race was run with a favorable wind reading of +1.2 m/s.
