A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted bail to Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, popularly known as EeZee Tee, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, in the sum of ₦20 million.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, in his ruling on Friday, ordered that the defendant must provide one surety who resides in Lagos and owns property equivalent to the bail amount. The court gave Onyedikachukwu 72 hours to meet the conditions and adjourned the trial to June 20.
At the previous hearing on May 6, the court had temporarily released him to his lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chikaosolu Ojukwu.
EeZee Tee is facing trial for alleged money laundering totaling $255,446. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had initially charged him with 14 counts, later reduced to seven, primarily involving unauthorized foreign exchange dealings.
Prosecuting counsel Bilikisu Buhari-Bala alleged that in June 2023, the defendant conducted a $52,895 forex transaction with one Oladotun Olaobaju Mureke without Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) approval—an offence under the Foreign Exchange Act.
Onyedikachukwu pleaded not guilty to all charges.
