The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Operations Office, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, received 203 vulnerable Nigerian returnees from Libya on Monday.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, NEMA confirmed that the returnees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Cargo Terminal, Lagos, at approximately 7:00 p.m. aboard an Al Buraq Air chartered Boeing flight with registration number 5A-BAC.
The statement disclosed that the group comprised 50 adult males, 96 adult females, 29 children, and 28 infants. The return was facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) with support from NEMA and other partner agencies, including the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State Services, Port Health Services, and the Nigeria Police Force.

NEMA further noted that two of the returnees had medical conditions and were promptly transferred to New Ikeja Hospital for treatment.
“Following their arrival, all returnees underwent mandatory profiling and biometric registration,” the agency stated. “They were subsequently relocated to the Igando Internally Displaced Persons Resettlement Centre for further support and reintegration.”
The agency reiterated its commitment to working with local and international partners to assist distressed Nigerians returning from abroad.
