Tinubu not in France to see doctors – Presidency

Daniel Bwala
The Presidency on Sunday dismissed widespread speculation that President Bola Tinubu traveled to France for medical treatment, maintaining that the trip was strictly a working visit.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, clarified the situation during an appearance on Politics Today, a political affairs program on Channels Television.

Bwala was responding to allegations made by activist and politician Omoyele Sowore, who claimed on social media that the President had travelled abroad for health-related reasons.

Although presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga previously stated that Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria in “about a fortnight,” Sowore suggested otherwise in a post on his official Facebook page.

He wrote: “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has fled Nigeria again to France for medical care, although some liars in his office claim he is on a working visit. It is troubling to know that approximately 200 million Nigerians may be repeatedly subjected to misinformation disseminated daily, and they, in turn, do nothing to liberate themselves.”

In response, Bwala firmly refuted the claim, emphasizing that the president’s visit had nothing to do with medical treatment.

“There is absolutely no truth to that,” Bwala said. “The president’s trips to France are not medical-related. Have you not seen him receiving visitors and holding meetings? His activities have been made public.”

He reiterated that President Tinubu’s itinerary had been transparent and consistent with the nature of an official working visit, not a personal or medical one.
