Police uncover baby factory in Lagos, rescue 10 victims

The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a baby factory in the Ijegun area and rescued 10 individuals, including three children. Three suspects were also arrested in connection with the illegal operation.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson, shared the news with reporters on Monday, revealing that the operation came to light after a tip-off was received last Saturday.

Following the lead, police swiftly raided the location and arrested the primary suspect, Mariam Vincent, aged 35, along with two accomplices: Orie Ruth, 23, and Ujunwa Ifeanyi, 18.

During the operation, officers discovered and rescued several victims, including three children aged seven, five, and two. In total, seven adult women and three children were rescued from the baby factory.

Among the adult victims were Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), and Amaka (26). The rescued children were Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2).

All the rescued individuals are now receiving proper care and support.

Hundeyin confirmed that during interrogation, the suspects admitted to kidnapping the victims from various locations across the state to operate the baby factory. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects will soon face charges in court.

In an update on police efforts over the past two weeks, Hundeyin reported the arrest of 39 individuals involved in a range of crimes, including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, child stealing, operating a baby factory, illegal possession of firearms, and drug trafficking.

In another operation, police officers rescued two kidnapped individuals from Igbe Alagemo in the Ijede area of Ikorodu. The kidnapping occurred on the night of March 26, 2025, when armed assailants attacked the community.

According to Hundeyin, the kidnappers forcibly entered the home of a 40-year-old man named Dare, shot and killed his security dog, and abducted him. They then moved to a neighboring house, where they kidnapped 25-year-old Rodiat in a similar violent manner.

After a joint operation with local teams and security forces, the victims were safely rescued on March 29, 2025, around 11:56 p.m. The victims were promptly reunited with their families, and the area is now relatively calm.

Hundeyin added that surveillance continues in the area, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the kidnapping.
