South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron, 24, was found dead in her Seongsu-dong apartment, authorities confirmed on Sunday.

According to BBC News, police revealed that a friend discovered her body around 4:55 PM (07:55 GMT). Investigators found no signs of foul play, and an official inquiry into the cause of her death is ongoing.

Kim, who began her career as a child actress, was considered one of South Korea’s most promising young talents.

Born in Seoul in 2000, she first gained attention for her role in the 2009 film A Brand New Life, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. She later starred in The Man from Nowhere (2010), South Korea’s highest-grossing film of the year, and the 2012 thriller The Neighbour, both of which earned her critical acclaim.

Other notable works in her career include the 2014 film A Girl at My Door and the 2016 television drama Mirror of the Witch.

Kim largely stepped away from the public eye in 2022 following a drunk driving incident. She was fined 20 million won (£11,000) in April 2023 as a result. Her final role was in Netflix’s 2023 drama Bloodhounds, though reports suggest that much of her performance was edited out due to the controversy surrounding her.
