The registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will now begin on Monday, February 3, 2025, instead of the previously scheduled date of Friday, January 31, 2025.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) made this announcement in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, on Friday.
Benjamin explained that the delay was necessary to allow the Board to implement critical adjustments to its registration templates. These changes are in response to the recent suspension of certain law programs at selected universities, as communicated to JAMB by the Council for Legal Education.
Additionally, the Board revealed that it had discovered some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers had used misleading facilities to gain approval, prompting the need for further scrutiny and the disapproval of such centers.
“The Board acknowledges the disruption this may cause to candidates and other stakeholders and sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience,” the statement read. It further noted that the extra time would be used to make the necessary corrections and ensure a smoother registration process.
Earlier, on Thursday, JAMB announced that it would not be conducting admissions for the law program at certain universities where the Council of Legal Education (CLE) had suspended the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) program for the 2025/2026 academic session. This also extends to the Nigerian Police Academy, where the ban on registration for the law program will continue into the 2026/2027 academic session.
The following universities have had their law programs suspended by the Council of Legal Education:
- Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State
- Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
- Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State
- Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
- Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
- Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
