Cabal in Tinubu’s goverment more powerful and dangerous than Buhari’s – Dalung

Solomon Dalung
Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has claimed that the cabal surrounding President Bola Tinubu is more powerful and dangerous than the one that operated during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Dalung alleged that Tinubu’s cabal consists of highly educated, ambitious, and strategically sophisticated individuals who possess an in-depth understanding of power dynamics, making them more effective in manipulating governance and isolating the president.

“These individuals are well-educated and deeply knowledgeable about the nature of power,” Dalung said. “Their ability to manipulate power, suppress information, and control access to the president makes them far more dangerous than any cabal in Nigeria’s history.”

He contrasted this with Buhari’s cabal, which he described as less sophisticated, consisting of individuals with limited political and administrative experience. Dalung argued that while Buhari’s cabal was driven by narrow self-interest, their lack of strategic depth ultimately reduced their influence.

“President Muhammadu Buhari’s government had a cabal,” Dalung stated. “However, these were individuals with limited understanding of politics, public administration, and governance. Their activities were confined to a narrow view of power and personal gain, with little long-term vision.”

Dalung also criticized the denial of the existence of such cabals within Nigerian governance, emphasizing the danger of ignoring their influence. “To deny the existence of such a powerful political force would be unfair to future generations,” he said. “These individuals hijack power and pursue hidden agendas under the guise of the popular manifesto that helped them gain office.”

Reflecting on Tinubu’s administration, Dalung referenced Chapter 2 of the Nigerian Constitution, which mandates that the government’s primary responsibility is to ensure the well-being of its citizens. He questioned whether the current administration was fulfilling this duty.

“Are Nigerians celebrating the policies of this government? Certainly not,” he remarked. “The common people are frustrated and dissatisfied with the government, and the nation as a whole.”

Dalung expressed concern that the influence of Tinubu’s cabal could undermine effective governance, further isolate the president, and worsen the hardships faced by ordinary Nigerians.
