EPL: Tottenham complete signing goalkeeper Kinský for £12.5m

Antonín Kinský
Tottenham Hotspur have strengthened their squad with the signing of goalkeeper Antonín Kinský from Slavia Prague for £12.5 million.

The 21-year-old Czech Republic U21 international has signed a contract lasting until 2031, adding much-needed depth to a position that has been plagued by injuries.

Spurs have been facing a goalkeeping crisis, with first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario sidelined by an ankle injury, and Fraser Forster unavailable for the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle due to illness. With no other experienced options, 25-year-old Brandon Austin was called upon to make his senior debut in goal.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of Antonín Kinský from SK Slavia Prague, subject to international clearance and work permit,” the club stated on its official website on Sunday. “The 21-year-old goalkeeper has agreed a contract that will run until 2031 and will wear the number 31 shirt.”

Born in Prague, Kinský began his footballing journey with local clubs FC Tempo Prague, Bohemians Prague 1905, and FK Dukla Prague, making his senior debut with the latter in July 2020.

He joined Slavia Prague in 2021, initially playing for the B team before gaining valuable first-team experience on loan at MFK Vyskov and FK Pardubice. Kinský has been a standout performer for Slavia Prague, making 29 appearances in the current season across the Czech First League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Champions League qualifiers, recording an impressive 14 clean sheets.

Kinský has represented the Czech Republic at youth levels from Under-15 to Under-21, and he received his first senior call-ups for the October and November 2024 UEFA Nations League fixtures.

The signing comes at a critical time for Tottenham, who are looking to bolster their squad amid injuries and a dip in form. Kinský’s arrival marks the club’s first signing of the January transfer window, as Spurs continue to address weaknesses in their squad, particularly in attack and midfield.

With fans hoping for a swift recovery from their recent slump, Kinský’s arrival offers hope that the young goalkeeper can help stabilize the team during a challenging period.
