Ondo SSG Oluwatuyi dies few days after auto crash

The Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Mr. Tayo Oluwatuyi, has passed away.

Oluwatuyi, widely known as Tukana, died on Saturday at an undisclosed hospital. While the exact circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear, reports suggest that he was involved in a road accident along the Ife-Ibadan Road on December 19, 2024, and had been hospitalized since then.

The state government confirmed his passing in a statement issued on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Wale Akinlosotu. The statement described Oluwatuyi as a dedicated public servant who had served Ondo State with distinction.

“It is with profound sadness that the Government of Ondo State announces the passing of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, Secretary to the State Government, on January 4, 2025,” the statement read. “He was involved in a serious car accident on Sunday, December 15, 2024, while traveling to Ibadan and was subsequently hospitalized.”

The statement further praised Oluwatuyi for his contributions to the state, highlighting his unwavering commitment to administrative coordination, policy advisory, and implementation. He was recognized for playing a vital role in the government, working closely with the Governor and top officials across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Having served the state in various capacities, including Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Commissioner, and twice as Secretary to the State Government, Oluwatuyi’s legacy will be remembered for his significant impact on the state’s development.

The Ondo State Government extended its condolences to the Oluwatuyi family, friends, and associates during this difficult time. Further details regarding memorial arrangements will be provided as they become available.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had appointed Oluwatuyi as the Secretary to the State Government on January 24, 2024.
