Catholic priest allegedly shoots boy dead in Imo

A Catholic priest has allegedly shot a boy dead in Imo State.

The incident reportedly happened at the the St Columbus Catholic Church in the Amaimo community Ikeduru local government area of the state.

While the victim’s identity has not been confirmed, reports suggest the boy was shot after he reportedly threw knockouts (fireworks) into the church premises. Witnesses claim the priest responded to the disturbance by retrieving a firearm and shooting the boy.

The incident has left the local community in shock and turmoil, with many residents condemning the priest’s actions. Calls for a thorough investigation and the arrest of the suspect have been mounting as the situation unfolds.

The Imo State Police Command confirmed the shooting on Thursday.

Public Relations Officer Henry Okoye stated that a detailed investigation had been initiated to ascertain the remote facts surrounding the incident.
