Airtel Nigeria has announced the appointment of Dinesh Balsingh as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2024.
The announcement was made in a statement on Tuesday, signed by Femi Adeniran, Director of Corporate Communications and CSR at Airtel Nigeria.
Balsingh takes over from Carl Cruz, who stepped down at the end of October to return to the Philippines.
The statement noted that Balsingh brings a wealth of experience in the telecommunications industry, having recently served as the Managing Director and CEO of Airtel Tanzania since 2022. Prior to his role in Tanzania, he was the Chief Commercial Officer at Airtel Nigeria, equipping him with deep insight into the Nigerian telecommunications market.
Balsingh first joined Airtel Nigeria in 2013 as Marketing Director, after holding leadership positions at Airtel India and Tata Docomo.
Airtel Africa CEO, Sunil Taldar, expressed confidence in Balsingh’s ability to drive the company’s continued growth in Nigeria. “Balsingh’s extensive telecom experience, strong operational execution, and deep understanding of the Nigerian market will be invaluable in advancing our mission of transforming lives across Nigeria,” Taldar said.
Balsingh holds an MBA from Thiagarajar School of Management.
