Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni.
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the payment of a ₦70,000 minimum wage for state civil servants, effective from December 2024.

The approval follows a recommendation from the state’s Minimum Wage Committee, which was tasked with reviewing the current salary structure. Governor Buni’s spokesperson, Mamman Mohammed, confirmed the decision, highlighting the committee’s suggestion to reconcile local government finances for a smooth transition to the new pay scale.

The reconciliation process, which is nearly complete, will soon be finalized and approved, allowing for the swift enrollment of local government employees into the updated salary structure.

The state government has urged civil servants to demonstrate commitment and professionalism in their roles, ensuring improved service delivery in response to the new wage policy.
