Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has dissolved the Governing Councils of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and all other state-owned tertiary institutions in the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Okpebholo also approved the immediate disengagement of the management staff at Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital in Benin City.
The statement reads: “It is hereby announced that His Excellency, Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the dissolution of the Governing Councils of all State-owned Tertiary Institutions in Edo State with immediate effect.”
The reason for the dissolution was not provided, but the governor directed that all affected members of the Governing Councils must hand over any government property in their possession to the respective Heads of the Institutions.
Additionally, the disengaged management staff at the two hospitals are to hand over all government properties to the most senior officers in their respective institutions.
