Ondo election: INEC uploads 95.32% of results to IReV portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 95.32% of the results from the Ondo State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal.

As of 8:34 pm on Saturday, results from 3,749 out of 3,933 polling units where the election took place have been made available online.

Although 18 political parties participated in the election, the main contenders are incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and former Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi.

Aiyedatiwa, who is running on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), faces off against Ajayi, who represents the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Both candidates previously served as deputy governors under the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away late last year. Following Akeredolu’s death, Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as governor.

Reports indicate that the election was generally peaceful, with voting concluding in some areas by 2:30 pm, paving the way for sorting and counting of ballots.

The election kicked off at 8:00 am in the state’s 3,933 polling units, with election materials arriving as early as 6:00 am in some locations, and INEC officials working to ensure a smooth process.
