Amid the leadership crisis rocking the Labour Party, the Kaduna State Chapter of the party has declared its support for the National Chairman, Julius Abure and the National Working Committee.
In a statement signed by the Kaduna State chairman, Auwal Tafoki and Secretary, Bulus Maisamari, the party warned members against engaging in anti-party activities capable of destabilising the party.
It alleged that some selfish individuals and a suspended member of the party are trying everything possible to pocket party affairs using their influence.
The statement, however, urged LP members to remain committed to the party’s ideals and leadership ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in Kaduna State.
The Kaduna Labour Party officials also urged Abia state Governor, Dr Alex Otti, to use his office to unite the party, adding that the 23 Labour Party local government chairmen in Kaduna State are strongly behind Abure-led national leadership of the party who they believed has what it takes to move the party forward ahead of 2027 general elections.
“The Labour Party chairman in Kaduna state alongside the 23 Local Government chairmen on August 29th, 2024, passed a vote of confidence on the embattled National Chairman of our Party, Barrister Julius Abure,” they said.
“This affirmation is to encourage them to remain steadfast in the course of discharging their party constitutional responsibilities and not to be carried away by some unscrupulous elements who are on a mission to destroy the Labour Party in Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
“For the records, it is important to know that the Labour Party does not have any faction in Kaduna State. We are one family, united under an indivisible body, resolute and determined to make a mark in the state even as Nigerian youths and the elderly believed in our party’s ideology to birth a new Nigeria using His Excellency, Dr Peter Gregory Obi.
“Meanwhile, we cannot claim ignorant of the fact that some selfish individuals who contested elections under the party in 2023 are trying everything possible to pocket the party in Kaduna state. This is an attempt that they already failed woefully.”
