Abducted Nasarawa council boss regains freedom

The chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Safiyanu Isa Andaha, and his political godfather, Adamu Umar, who were kidnapped on New Year’s Day, have regained their freedom.

The Telegraph earlier reported that sources informed our correspondent that gunmen abducted them on Monday night at Ningo village along Andaha-Akwanga Road.

However, The Nation reported late Tuesday that the LG boss has been released.

The newspaper reported that a member of the state working committee of the All Progressives Congress who hails from Akwanga Local Government and spearheaded the negotiation confirmed the release on condition of anonymity.

“The council chairman and his political godfather have been reunited with their families,” the report read.
