The Economic Community of West African States said on Sunday it was keeping sanctions on Niger’s military regime imposed after a July coup, saying progress on the transition to civilian rule was needed to ease the measures.

ECOWAS Commission President Omar Touray said a commission of Benin, Togo, and Sierra Leone would engage with Niger military rulers to decide on easing sanctions.
