The Jigawa State Police Command has busted a notorious syndicate of car thieves and recovered three stolen vehicles.
Spokesman of the command, DSP. Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrest in a statement.
He said the police also succeeded in arresting three suspects based on credible Intelligence gathering after receiving the report.
According to him, “On 19/11/2023 at about 2000hrs, one Dr Abdullahi Dogo, Technical Adviser to the Governor of Jigawa State, reported at Dutse Police Station that, on the same date at about 1845hrs he parked his Toyota Corolla motor vehicle with Registration No. KHS 96 AA JIGAWA, ash in colour at Yantifa market Dutse LGA containing one laptop HP product, one iPad, two bags containing his clothes, one heater, a jumpa cap, one cover shoe, and palm sandals and entered the market to buy some provisions, upon his return he discovered that the said motor vehicle was missing.”
DSP Shiisu said that on receipt of the report, policemen attached to the Dutse Division swung into action.
“Based on credible intelligence gathered, on 21/11/2023 at about 2200hrs, there was a suspicious movement of a motor vehicle, one FAW VITA with Registration No.KWL 274 AS Abuja, ash in colour was detected around the Parking location in the Investment area of Dutse metropolis.
“On the instruction of the Divisional Police Officer Dutse, the police patrol team cordoned the area, and the following suspects namely: Abdullahi Sani ‘m’ 28yrs of Mashi L.G.A Katsina State and Faruk Adamu ‘m’ 29yrs of Keffi L.G.A Nasarawa State were arrested and taken to the station for interrogation.
“When questioned, they could not give a satisfactory account of themselves, and when searched, the following items were recovered from them: Nine (9) different master keys, different plate numbers, and some mechanic tools,” he said.
The suspects, upon interrogation, confessed to the crime and all the properties of the car owner were also recovered.
However, they mentioned one Abubakar ‘m’ a.k.a Dan-Fulani, who resides in Kano State, as the bonafide receiver of stolen vehicles.
“The said Dan-Fulani was also arrested with another stolen motor vehicle Toyota Corolla ash in colour with Registration No. RBA 585 CE ABUJA,” he added.
The police spokesman said the investigation is still ongoing at SCID Dutse, and all the suspects would be arraigned in court to face the law.
