Security operatives rescue eight kidnap victims in Kaduna

Security operatives have rescued eight persons abducted by suspected kidnappers in Millennium City and Maraban Rido communities of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The victims were rescued between October 31 and November 2, 2026, during coordinated operations involving the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force and the military, in collaboration with the Kaduna State Government.

The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press conference at the DSS Command Headquarters in Kaduna.

Rabiu said the operations formed part of sustained efforts by security agencies to identify, disrupt and dismantle criminal networks responsible for recurring abductions in Millennium City and neighbouring communities.

He noted that the persistent kidnapping incidents in the affected areas had raised serious public concerns over the safety of residents and other stakeholders.

The rescued victims were identified as Jamila Muhammad, Talatu Yakubu, Yunana Bawa, Calista Bishop, Chidinma Onuwere, Eucharia Obi, Godiya Victor and Miracle Alex, an eight-year-old girl.

The latest rescue came barely three weeks after security agencies freed Ahmad Zakka and members of his family from captivity on October 15, 2026.

Describing the successive operations as a demonstration of the commitment of security agencies to tackling kidnapping, Rabiu said efforts were ongoing to secure the release of abducted persons and dismantle criminal networks operating across Kaduna State.

He acknowledged the strategic coordination provided by the Office of the National Security Adviser, the operational support of the police, the intelligence-driven efforts of the DSS and the involvement of the military.

The police commissioner also commended the Kaduna State Government, led by Governor Uba Sani, for its continued support and collaboration with security agencies in tackling kidnapping and banditry across the state.

Rabiu further disclosed that additional security personnel and equipment, including 30 patrol vans and eight armoured personnel carriers, would be deployed to strengthen operations and improve security coverage in vulnerable communities.

Identifying the difficult terrain in parts of Kaduna State as one of the challenges exploited by criminal elements, he assured residents that security operations would be sustained and intensified to deny kidnappers and bandits freedom of action.

He urged residents to support the efforts of security agencies by remaining vigilant and providing credible, timely and actionable intelligence on the identities, activities and movements of suspected kidnappers and other criminal elements.
