Lagos begins online pension verification for retirees October 26

LASPEC DG, Babalola Obilana
The Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC) has directed eligible pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) to complete an online verification exercise between October 26 and November 25, 2026.

The exercise covers retired heads of service and permanent secretaries, as well as pensioners under the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) and the Civil Service Pension Office (CSPO).

According to a notice reported by PM News on Saturday, LASPEC Director-General, Babalola Obilana, urged all affected pensioners to complete the verification within the stipulated period.

The commission said the exercise was aimed at updating pensioners’ records and confirming their eligibility under the Defined Benefit Scheme, also known as the Pay-As-You-Go system.

LASPEC stressed that the exercise would be conducted exclusively online, advising pensioners against visiting its office to complete the process.

Retired heads of service and permanent secretaries are required to access the verification portal at verify.laspec.gov.ng, while TESCOM pensioners should visit verify.tescomlagos.ng. Those under the Civil Service Pension Office are to use verify.cspo.ng.

The commission explained that pensioners must first complete a two-step login validation using their Oracle number and surname.

After logging in, participants are required to select the self-service option and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the verification.

They must also enable their device cameras to take photographs for identity confirmation, provide their Bank Verification Number (BVN) or National Identification Number (NIN), update their personal information and complete their next-of-kin details before submitting their records.

LASPEC urged pensioners to ensure that all required information was accurate and submitted before the November 25 deadline.

For assistance, pensioners who are retired heads of service, permanent secretaries or TESCOM beneficiaries can contact Mrs Morenike Makinde on 09053962112.

Pensioners under the Civil Service Pension Office can contact Mrs Alabi Adedamola on 08023064050. Further enquiries can also be directed to info@laspec.gov.ng.

The commission said the online arrangement was designed to make the verification process more convenient, allowing eligible retirees to update their records without physically visiting its office.

Obilana urged all affected pensioners to use the designated portals and complete the exercise within the approved timeframe.
