Manchester United’s woes deepened on Wednesday as they slumped to a humiliating 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como, piling further pressure on under-fire manager Michael Carrick.

Argentina international Nico Paz struck twice, with Tasos Douvikas also finding the net before Jacobo Ramon completed the rout for the Italian side.

A late consolation goal from Joshua Zirkzee offered little relief, sparing United from equalling their heaviest-ever defeat in the competition but doing little to ease the mounting scrutiny on Carrick.
