The Ebonyi State Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has announced Monday, September 7, 2026, as the official resumption date for the 2026/2027 academic session across the state.
The announcement was contained in a press statement issued over the weekend by the Commissioner for Education (Primary and Secondary), Dr. Donatus Ilang.
According to the statement, the resumption directive applies to all approved public, private and faith-based nursery, primary and secondary schools across Ebonyi State’s 13 Local Government Areas.
School administrators, teachers and non-teaching staff are expected to report for duty on Monday, September 7, while boarding students are to return to their hostels on Sunday, September 6, to allow schools to prepare adequately for the new session.
The ministry urged parents and guardians to ensure their children and wards resume promptly and are properly dressed in line with approved school standards.
Proprietors of private schools were also directed to comply strictly with the approved state school calendar, national curriculum and operational guidelines issued by the ministry.
The ministry said comprehensive monitoring teams would be deployed across the state from the first day of resumption to ensure full compliance with government directives.
Dr. Ilang reaffirmed the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s commitment to improving educational standards across Ebonyi State, in line with the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
The ministry called on education stakeholders, teachers and community leaders to cooperate fully with the government to ensure a smooth and productive start to the new academic session.
